Overview

Mt. Siguniang is located at the border where Xiaojin and Wenchaun counties of Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture meet. The second peak of Mt. Siguniang is covered by snow all the year around, the grand ice glacier stretches into the alpine meadow at more than 4000mtrs. Looking from right to left, the first peak, is 5355 metres, the second peak is 5454 metres, the third peak is 5664 metres, then the forth and most impressive peak is 6520 metres.

Climate.
The average temperature is about 19 degree c. in summer, the temperature of ice peak area on the mountains is very low, there is rarely any snowfall, but often snow with hailstone, so climbers must be very careful. In winter, the average temperature of the valley area is below 2 degrees c, the mountain pass is cut off by snow.
Recommend.
Although the second peak of Mt. Siguniang is relatively low, it still requires a modest level of technical ability and is not an easy climb. This area is a relatively new destination for tourism and there are very few people who have ventured on this mountain. The required technical ability for climbing this peak is mid level,(some mountaineering skills, knowledge and experience) with a mid level danger.

Itinerary

Itinerary:
Day 1.
Chengdu. Hotel****
Arrive at Chengdu; Guide will meet clients at the airport, and escort them to hotel by private bus.
Day 2.
Chengdu / Rilong. Hotel****
Setting off after breakfast, drive to Wolong via Dujiangyan and Yingxiu. Have lunch at Wolong hotel, and then visit Wolong nature reserve. Then drive over Mt. Balang to Rilong, during driving, admire the beautiful scenery of Mt. Balang and alp meadow. After arriving at Rilong County (3100 metres) – Mt. Siguniang, check into hotel.
Day 3.
Rilong / BC. Dahaizi. Camping
After breakfast,start trek at Haizigou beauty spot. Passing by Guozhuangping and Jipengzi, arrive at Dahaizi (3800 metres. Haizi, means lake in Chinese). Trek through alpine meadows, white pagoda, Sakyamuni rocks and Buddhist scrip banner, until see the four peaks of Mt. Siguniang. Trekking about 6 to 7 hours, and 10 km.
Day 4.
BC. Dahaizi / Huahaizi / BC. Dahaizi. Camping
After breakfast, go to visit Huahaizi and Dahaizi. We can admire the beautiful forth peak of Mt. Siguniang. This day, we practice mountaineering techniques and acclimatise
Day 5.
BC. Dahaizi / Base Camp 1. (Maogou Cave). Camping
Setting off after breakfast. Walk to Base Camp 1 (Maogou Cave, camp at 4340 metres). Walk to the mountain for about 4 km and about 4 to 5 hours. (Maogou Cave, which situated at a great lawn between the mountain ridges of the first and second peak, here is flat and has beautiful views, and it is easy to get water). After supper, prepare for the next day’s climbing.
Day 6.
Base Camp 1. Maogou Cave / Summit / Base Camp 1. (Maogou Cave). Camping
Get up early in the morning, after breakfast, start to climb to the summit. Passing by mouth of Wei peak (5150M), then arrive at the summit (5454m), celebrate the success. Then back to base camp 1 (Maogou Cave). Have a rest. Trekking from Maogou Cave to the summit, takes around 7 hours, this journey will be hard.
Day 7.
Base Camp 1 (Maogou Cave 4340m) / Rilong. Hotel****
After breakfast,descend on horses. Arrive at Rilong, check into hotel. After supper, watch Tibetan singing and dancing, eat local food for dinner.
Day 8.
Rilong / Chengdu. Hotel****
We set off after breakfast by private bus. Have lunch at Wolong, after arriving at Chengdu, we visit the Temple of Marquis Wu and Dufu Thatched Cottage. We taste Yaoshan (food cooked with Chinese medicine). Check into hotel.
Day 9.
Leave
Leave Chengdu our guide will escort our clients to the airport by private air-conditioned bus for onward journey.
